Garden to Vase – August Edition

£220.00

Enjoy a full day of floral indulgence picking and arranging flowers. We will be focusing on perennials and woody plants to cut in August, which can be a challenging time of year for a flower grower. You will discover how these plants groups can keep the flowers going when many garden are looks rather weary and drab. Rachel’s floral demonstration will show how they can provide all the elements of an arrangement – framework, focal, supporting and accent. Taking centre stage will be the dahlias whose formality is softened by the plethora of perennials on offer at this time of year, full of airy waft, daisy-shapes, thistles and froth. The jasmine and rosa glauca foliage has ripened to add movement and air and the first fruits are forming on the hypericum and raspberries.

She will show you how to pick and condition for optimum vase life and then demonstrate how she translates the garden to the vase, or in this case to one of her hand thrown footed bowls using sustainable floristry techniques.

After a home cooked lunch you will turn your hand to creating an informal hand tied bouquet in a garden-gathered style.

Go home with your bowl arrangement and bouquet, plus some growing tips and seeds so you will have plenty to pick in your own cutting gardens next August.
