Floral Favourites – The Peony

£220.00

Peonies are both indulgent and invaluable as cut flowers, they provide us with luscious, blousy blooms from late spring to midsummer, a gap time for focal flowers. In exchange they demand a prime spot in the garden and three years of waiting before they can be picked. To help you choose the best varieties to grow for colour, scent and to stretch their relatively fleeting flowering period Rachel will be presenting her four-year-old, ‘ready to pick’ peony plot comprising of 20 must-have varieties. As well as looking at picking and conditioning to ensure the plants stay healthy she will talk about annual maintenance and how to propagate them. You will then be let loose to gather your favourites and accompanying seasonal treasures in our fields and tunnels.

Back in the flower studio the afternoon will be spent focusing on designing with peonies to create a stunning centrepiece. Rachel will demonstrate her ‘grown in’ style and philosophy using foam-free techniques.

She is a firm believer in the vase being equally as important as the florals and now with her own pottery studio on the farm she is working on a G&G collection of bud vases, bottles and bowls.  You will take home your arrangement in a handmade bowl designed to complement these seasonal beauties. A two course homemade lunch and refreshments made with fresh produce from the kitchen garden are included.
