Nigella hispanica Mixed

£2.50

Nigella hispanica mixed

My favourite Nigella –  more robust and longer flowering than it’s cousins. This is a mix of ‘African Bride’ ‘Midnight’ and ‘Delft Blue’. The flowers are star-shaped with dark, spidery centres and range from deep blue to a painterly lavender wash on the petals of ‘Delft Blue’ With successional sowing I am still picking them in August to go with Dahlias.

Plant type: hardy annual

Site: full sun

Height: 45-60cm

Spacing: 25cm

Sown to grown:

Min. seeds per packet: 100

Growing tips: Sow successionally either directly or into plugs as they do not enjoy root disturbance. We sow in late Summer/early Autumn and again in the Spring.

Harvesting/Arranging tips: Pick flowers when fully open. They add a stylish accent to soft blousey peonies, garden roses and dahlias but equally work in a mixed meadow-style arrangement.
