Penstemon barbatus – Beardlip penstemon ‘Jingle Bells’

(aka. P. barbatus subsp. coccineus ‘Jingle Bells’)

A  splendid tall perennial for a well drained sunny position. It has basal rosettes of wide, lance-shaped or linear, mid-green leaves and tubular, orange-red flowers from midsummer into autumn. A brilliant willowy accent flower which adds splashes of vivid colour without overwhelming an arrangement.

Can be more short-lived in wetter, heavier soils. It may bloom the first year if started early indoors. It can take 3 weeks to germinate and stratification may be required.
