Macleaya microcarpa – Plume poppy

Macleaya microcarpa (Plume Poppy)
A handsome perennial grown for its bold foliage and hazy plumes of tawny flowers which appear in June and July on towering stems. The blue-grey, scalloped leaves are almost fig-like in scale and shape, they can be used individually as they have long petioles (20cm). The seedheads extend the harvest period from July to September. Be warned it is a notorious spreader so make sure you have plenty of room!
