ABOUT US
I’m Rachel Siegfried and along with my partner Ashley Pearson we grow and arrange exceptionally beautiful flowers for a living. The job description of flower farmer didn’t exist when I was trying to figure out what to do with my life, but luckily I found my way to being one, and if there is such a thing as a ‘soul job’ it is definitely mine.
The seed was sown for our flower farm over twenty years ago whilst working as an estate gardener in a walled kitchen garden in the Cotswolds. My job was to grow cut flowers for the “big house”. I was given free reign and a generous budget to achieve the brief. During the six years of growing cut flowers for the elite, I began to wonder why these garden-grown beauties were not more commonly available. Surely enjoying flowers in your home should be a simple pleasure, without the environmental burden of air miles and chemicals?
Determined to offer an alternative to sterile, imported blooms I left my job and took on a two acre market garden. We settled on the name Green and Gorgeous and started clearing the cabbages to make way for row upon row of everything I needed to create border-to-vase arrangements.

In the early days we grew mostly annuals for our local farmer’s markets, word spread and it wasn’t long before I was being asked to do weddings and teach others how to grow cut flowers. To keep up with demand we took the decision to expand to five acres and our team grew to eight people and two whippets. This gave us the room and manpower to grow more of my favourite groups of plants - perennials and shrubs. Their dependability and scope for creating natural-style arrangements inspired my best selling book - The Cut Flower Sourcebook.
An opportunity to expand the business into seed production arose during lockdown when a break from weddings allowed us the time and space to develop a collection of our tried and tested favourite varieties, many of which are easy to grow perennials.
Our mission is to share the joy and satisfaction of naturally-grown cut flowers with other flower lovers. Whether it is when you visit the farm to buy one of our distinctive bouquets or to attend a workshop, spending some time wandering through our flower fields is an entrancing experience.

I enjoy taking my floral design cues from what is in season when working on my weddings and funerals. The ever-changing cycle and transience of flowers allows me to create something truly unique for each client.
Now that we are growing on a larger scale we have started selling wholesale. Our wide range of varieties, expert knowledge of seasonality and eye for form and colour make us quite an asset to other florists and growers.

Seventeen years on and our goal remains the same as the day we began on this immensely challenging and deeply rewarding way of life - to empower others to grow and arrange their own flowers and experience the joy that it brings.
