Floral Favourites – The Dahlia

£220.00

Invaluable in the cutting garden for a riot of colour from mid-summer to the first frosts, dahlias are firmly established as flamboyant favourites. You will learn about what to look for when selecting the best varieties of dahlias for floral design, how to propagate your favourites, growing them on and caring for them through the four month flowering period and at the end of the season whether to lift or leave the tubers in the ground over winter. After a demonstration on picking and conditioning for good vase life and strong regrowth you will be let loose to gather your favourite varieties and seasonal treasures in our fields and tunnels.

Back in the flower studio the afternoon will be spent focusing on designing with dahlias to create a stunning centrepiece. Rachel will demonstrate her ‘grown in’ style and philosophy using foam free techniques.

She is a firm believer in the vase being equally as important as the florals and now with her own pottery studio on the farm she is working on a G&G collection of bud vases, bottles and bowls.  Take home your arrangement in a handmade bowl designed to complement these seasonal beauties, along with a bunch of your favourite dahlias. A two course homemade lunch and refreshments made with fresh produce from the kitchen garden are included.
