Calamagrostis brachytricha ‘Korean Feather Reed grass’

£3.00

Calamagrostis brachytricha (aka. C. sylvatica & Achnatherum brachytricha) is a superb ornamental grass which is great for cutting and for drying, forming long and graceful, feathery flower panicles from late summer. It forms a clump of glossy green, linear leaves turning yellow in autumn, with narrow, fluffy, purple-tinged plume-like sprays of flower opening in late summer and early autumn and persisting into the winter.

C. brachytricha has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

Height: 1-1.2m

Spacing: 40-50cm

Min. seeds per packet: 100 seeds.

Growing tips: Can tolerate some shade, but will lose some colour. A little goes a long way as it forms generous clumps in it’s 2nd year.

Harvesting/Arranging tips: Can be used fresh or dried. A beautiful textural filler, that can be an alternative to spire-shaped flowers in early Autumn.
