High summer offers an abundance of colours, textures and forms to work with – our fields and polytunnels are in full bloom from nostalgic cottage garden favourites such as foxgloves, scented garden roses, giant dahlias, phlox and sweet pea vines to flowers reminiscent of a wild flower meadow including scabious, achillea, grasses, daisies and eryngium. Pick your favourites to create a series of naturally stylish vase arrangements to decorate your home.
Rachel will show you how to pick and design your arrangements whilst exploring the floral possibilities in the tunnels, fields and orchard. Back in the flower studio she will demonstrate her ‘grown in’ style and philosophy, explaining how she selects the right vessel and its importance in the size, shape, mood and style of the finished design.
You will learn how to:
Capture the season in a loose, natural-style
Pick and condition flowers and foliage
Match your floral selection with the right vase
Support the stems with environmentally friendly alternatives to florists foam
Create a centrepiece for a table
Create a front-facing arrangement for a mantlepiece or sideboard
Pick up grower’s tips
