Floral Installations with Jay Archer
Floral designer Jay Archer is the queen of going big and often in a ‘suspended’ and dramatic sort of way. If you have always been slightly intimidated by requests for hanging floral installations this day would be a perfect way to gain confidence and technical know-how.
Attendees will be invited to create a hanging installation as part of a larger group, in a natural ‘grown in’ style. Jay will discuss the mechanics of creating large scale designs including weight restrictions, points to consider and safety advice – “once you know how to do it the possibilities really are endless”.
The aim of the day is to get you out of your comfort zone – to make something ‘unlabelled’ and just for fun with a brief free enough to make your design come forth. September is the perfect time of year on our flower farm to create some large scale, ‘wow’ factor with fruiting branches, trailing foliage and showstopping dahlias in a myriad of colours and forms.
After a tour and some tips on what to grow for installation work, Rachel will let you loose on her fields and hedgerows to gather all the materials you will need. We will head to the farm’s tythe barn with your foragings, a spacious blank canvas to let your imagination go wild.
Refreshments and a two course lunch using ingredients from the garden are included.
