‘Coolbot’ is certainly cool!

We have finally got our coolroom going just in the nick of time. We have insulated out a storage room, and installed a split unit air conditioner (thanks to Paul 'Woody').

We have then rigged up a device from the USA called a 'coolbot' (www.storeitcold.com), which makes the air con unit into a chiller to give you some extra cooling power. It's a very small gadget that only uses a tiny amount of electricity itself. For example we can easily get 4 degrees now (down from 18), although we are currently using it around 9-10 degrees.

Sounds too good to be true doesn't it? All the details are on the coolbot website, with lots of practical advice about insulation which is very important. Maybe it can't work miracles in every environment, but it certainly is for us. Many thanks to Ron Khosla for some timely advice during installation and customer support.

Looks and sounds great – I’m really keen to see how you get on with the Coolbot after hearing you talk about getting it installed back in March. I hope to visit at your next open day in July – do we get to have a sneaky look!? 🙂

Great to see how you have put together the coolbot! i am thinking of doing the same. Would you say after a few years of having it operating it is something you would recommend?
Any feedback and info on what air conditioner you have found has worked for you would really help us out.
    All the best

    Hello
I found your posting (from 2012) regarding the coolbot you installed in your chiller room. How did you get on with it and more importantly is it still working?
I am currently setting up a small artisan cheesemaking business in Sheffield and looking at various options for the maturing room. Can you tell me which air con unit you used (I can’t tell from the photos) as the ones that Coolbot site recommends are only available in the US. Many thanks for any advice you can give.
